Devonport Borough Council Valuation Lists Index 1887-1898

The Devonport Borough Council was formed in 1886. In 1989, Devonport Borough Council was dissolved when Devonport amalgamated with other borough councils to form North Shore City Council.

This database is a transcription of valuation lists covering the years 1887 to 1898. The first valuation list is arranged alphabetically by the name of the property owner, the rest of the lists are arranged by legal description of the property. They include the following information:
  • valuation number
  • name, trade or occupation of occupier
  • name, trade or occupation of owner
  • legal description of rateable property
  • if let, for what term and in what manner
  • rateable value.
Street addresses for the properties are not recorded in the valuation lists. However, the location of each property can be ascertained by reference to maps pasted into the second volume showing lot and section numbers.

The database is searchable by name (occupier and owner), occupation (occupier and owner) and the date. Use the Browse button (where available) to browse the contents of these fields.
