Mount Albert Rate Books Database 1867-1884

In 1862, central government passed the Highways Act and the Auckland Provincial Council passed legislation to provide for the institution of Highway Boards. The purpose of the Act was to facilitate the making and repairing of highways within the Province of Auckland.

These rate books of the Mount Albert Highway District include details of the names of occupiers and owners, a description and situation of property, the rateable value and date of payment.
