Trainers Tickets for Papatoetoe Stadium 1933

This index database contains transcribed information from a list found on a Papatoetoe Borough Council subject file on the stadium. The list records the names of trainers from various athletics clubs who applied for tickets for entry to Papatoetoe stadium and cycling track.

In 1926 the Papatoetoe Town Board purchased land between Wallace Road and the railway line for recreation purposes. During the Depression there were numerous unemployment relief schemes including the formation of the Papatoetoe cycling stadium, which opened on 24 October 1932. The stadium had a cycling track and there was a grass running track in the centre. In 1988 the cycling stadium was replaced when Papatoetoe City Council started building a community and recreation centre on the site of the former sports stadium. The new recreation centre was opened on 26 May 1990 and was later renamed the Allan Brewster Recreation Centre after the last mayor of Papatoetoe City.

The following details are recorded in the index database:
  • the ticket number
  • name of the trainer
  • address and name of the athletics club.

The database is searchable by name and address. This database is a full transcript of entries contained on the file.
