Abstract Mission Bay's historic fountain had be switched back on in September after seven months out of action because of water damage. Brief description of the fountain. The Fountain was built in the 1950's to mark the early death of Trevor Davis, the only son of Eliot Davis and the nephew of Sir Ernest Davis, Auckland mayor from 1935 to 1945.

Abstract In 1947 Trevor Moss Davis, a Director of Hancock and Company, died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 45. The article includes brief biographical details and an account of the night of his death. His father Eliot Davis dedicated his book of memoirs 'A link with the past' to his son and gifted a memorial fountain at Mission Bay to his memory. Includes a portrait of Trevor Davis and a photograph of his grave designed by George Tole and created by Richard Gross. This article is part of an occasional 'Tales from the Crypt' series delving into the personal stories behind notable graves at Waikumete Cemetery
