Description
Showing a woman standing at the door of the meeting house, Te Tiki-a- Tamamutu, at the Spa Hotel, Taupo, which was carved by Wero; he was assisted by Tene Waitere, grandfather of the famous Guide Rangi; the carvings are thought to be executed during the late 1870's to the 1880's and were never finished; John Joshua the proprietor of the Spa Hotel bought them in 1886 for one hundred and fifty pounds; the house was erected in the grounds of the Hotel and for a time was inappropriately used as a dining room.
