Wellington citizens raise 2000 for the beautifying of their city: The big Easter Carnival on Newtown Park. A big carnival was held at Wellington during the Easter holidays, in which numerous organisations took part, the object being the raising of funds for the beautifying of the city. The function was a great success, and resulted in the raising of 2000. 1. Entrants for the baby show. The winning baby is marked with a cross. 2. The maypole dance. 3. Group maypole dancers. 4. Major J.G. Hughes, D.S.O., presides at the "houp-la." 5. Children riding on the camel. 6. The officers who organised the military section, with General Godley, commandant of the forces. 7. Senior cadets on parade. 8. Competing teams in the ambulance competitions for men. 9. A display by Wellington hospital nurses. 10. Ponsonby Drum and Fife Band (Auckland) at lunch.
