Portrait of Corporal I Whittington Baxter of Ohaewai, probably Islay Whittington Baxter, Service number 23/66, who was killed in action on 15 September 1916 at the Somme. His name appears on the Caterpillar Valley (New Zealand) Memorial, Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, Longueval, France. He received the Star (1914-1915), a British War Medal (1914-1920) and the Victory Medal.
