Portrait of Private J M Cornwell of Auckland, killed in action. Probably James Minshall Cornwell, Service number 4397, who was killed in action on 8 November 1916 and buried at A I F Burial Ground, Grass Lane, Flers, France, Grave reference Plot IX, Row D, Grave No 1. He was awarded the British War Medal (1914-1920) and the Victory Medal.
