Description
Showing a man originally from the Solomon Islands standing with a sergeant in the New Zealand Army in Samoa. In August 1914 a contingent of New Zealand troops took over Samoa, which was at that time a German colonial possession. The earthquake referred to may be that of 10 July 1917 which was reported as a severe one and accompanied by a tidal wave that struck the Samoan Islands.
