Showing shells being passed by hand between helmeted New Zealand soldiers to deliver them to a howitzer battery. There is a large neat stack of shells outside the corrugated iron covering lying over the gun emplacement. It is further disguised with sandbags on top and vegetation to one side. Conditions are muddy as duckboards have been laid down outside the position.
