1/4 length portrait of Private J T Wilson, MM, of Greytown, Wairarapa, Service Number 35365, killed in action on 23 November 1941 at Sidi Rezegh, Libya during Operation Crusader, aged 49, and buried at Knightsbridge War Cemetery, Libya. Served in World War 1 with the 2nd Canterbury Regiment in France and Belgium, and awarded the Military Medal in August 1918 near Bapaume, France for single handedly taking out a German machine gun post and taking prisoners.
