Auckland Town Hall organFrom City Scene, published on 12 August, 2007 The Auckland Town Hall Organ Trust invites the public to assist the restoration of the building's historic organ. In exchange for a commitment to "adopt" an organ pipe, or family of pipes, donors receive a certificate and their name will appear in a special organ donations register. Auckland City Council is contributing $3 million towards upgrading the Auckland Town Hall's organ - with the planned improvements including replacing many inner workings. Auckland Town Hall Organ Trust chairman Stephen Hamilton says redeveloping New Zealand's most significant musical instrument is timely given the approaching centenary of the Auckland Town Hall in 2011.
