Free entry to Auckland Research Centre

From City Scene, published on 19 August, 2007

Aucklanders' growing interest in family and local histories has prompted Auckland City Libraries to provide free entry to its Auckland Research Centre. "This move is part of our ongoing efforts to help people connect with their heritage, and access information," says Auckland City Libraries group manager, Kay Forrester. The centre, on level two of the Central City Library, is open daily. Its extensive collection of local and family history materials includes:

  • national and international births, deaths and marriages indexes
  • shipping records
  • published family and local histories
  • an extensive reference section
  • a family history research service.
