Making a positive impactFrom City Scene, published on 26 August, 2007
The Otahuhu Town Hall Community Centre is a place for Monday night dancing fun, thanks to weekly Rockin' Hip Hop workshops. The workshops, run by StarJam, are geared for young people with disabilities. StarJam CEO Julie Bartlett says she's delighted to be able to hold the workshops at the Otahuhu centre. "We needed a quality venue with a dance floor and lots of space for the young people to move," she says. "This venue is perfect. The dancers are having a great time and because of the centre's convenient location, it's easy for more people to get involved." The Otahuhu Town Hall Community Centre is one of 21 community centres throughout our city supported by Auckland City Council. Each provides a range of activities catering for diverse interests and needs. For more information about StarJam, visit www.starjam.org or phone 624 4555.
