Six year-nine Mt Roskill Grammar students are currently involved in Kids Voting, a programme first piloted by Auckland City Council in 2001. The project encourages youth participation in democracy, with students casting mock votes for local government candidates, then comparing these "votes" with official election results. This year marks the first time other councils across New Zealand have participated in the initiative.
