Better recreation centres for our cityFrom City Scene, published on 23 September, 2007 The Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee has approved a 10-year plan to guide the development of recreation centres in our city. The plan was created in consultation with the community, regional sport organisations and leisure facility operators to get Aucklanders more active, more often. Some of the plan's actions include:
Committee chairperson, Councillor Penny Sefuiva, says the plan identifies both gaps in services provided by the city's recreation centres, and centres that need improving. "It provides clear direction on how to address these issues and ensures future generations will have the facilities they need to lead active, healthy lifestyles."
