Otahuhu's new pool and libraryFrom City Scene, published on 23 September, 2007 Auckland City Council has endorsed plans for a new swimming pool, library and open space facilities, as part of the Otahuhu Recreation Precinct development. The council allocated $22.1 million towards the facilities in Mason Avenue, which are due for completion in June 2011. Community feedback was instrumental in defining the types of facilities locals are looking for. Feedback showed that people want a place for the community to meet and socialise that is affordable, safe and secure. The new swimming pool will offer locals the chance to ride a hydroslide, swim some laps or relax in a family spa. The new library will offer learning opportunities for all and youth will have their own chill-out space in which to read and relax. The council will seek community feedback on concept designs for the precinct next March.
