Victoria Park improvementsFrom City Scene, published on 7 October, 2007
People can now enjoy Victoria Park's new playground - and look forward to using the park's western sports fields. The playground features a junior adventure unit and slide, six swings, a play unit for intermediate-aged children, sculptures, picnic tables and new rubbish bins. The upgrade followed the removal of contaminated soil found in the area late last year. At the same time, resurfacing and drainage improvements were made to Victoria Park's western sports fields. The work, due to be completed this month, will provide a better quality playing surface that is suitable for year-round use. Once the western fields are ready, fields on the park's east side will be closed for a similar upgrade.
