Wynyard Quarter open space

From City Scene, published on 14 October, 2007

The amount of open space proposed by the council for the Wynyard Quarter redevelopment has been doubled from 3.5ha to 7ha. The move reflects public support for more open space contained in feedback on concept plans for the area's redevelopment. Other feedback included calls to:

  • review the proposed building heights for the new urban area
  • increase the amount of land proposed to house the marine and fishing industries
  • introduce regulations to allow the bulk liquids industry to continue with minimal disruption until they move out of the area
  • consider whether additional character buildings in the area should be protected.

The proposed changes for the zoning of Wynyard Quarter are one part of Auckland City Council's work to enhance our CBD waterfront.
