Council news
Ian Mckinnon DriveFrom City Scene, published on 4 November, 2007 The council wants your feedback on proposed improvements to Ian Mckinnon Drive. To improve safety, the council is proposing new and upgraded footpaths, new traffic signals at some intersections, new cycle lanes and an evening peak-hour bus lane in this area. The current 70km/h speed limit could be reduced to 50km/h, along with corridor planting and landscaping, to encourage motorists to drive at a safer speed in this busy urban area. Other proposals include art work and feature lighting to improve the visual appeal of the flyover structure. The proposed changes would also make the area more attractive for the many people expected to use Ian Mckinnon Drive to get to and from Eden Park during the Rugby World Cup 2011.
