My AucklandFrom City Scene, published on 4 November, 2007
"I just love Auckland city. My family wanted me to move into a senior citizen village, but I dug in my heels and chose an apartment. Why? Well, I can fill my diary every day with a walk to the supermarket and other shops of great variety. I can visit art galleries or beautiful parks, or attend a concert or the opera. I can go out for lunch at one of the many places serving ethnic cuisine or Kiwi fare. As I walk around the city, I can enjoy the many artworks and buildings. My social life is good. I have made friends through organisations I have joined by seeking the guidance of the Citizens Advice Bureau. If I wish to be active, there are swimming pools close-at-hand. I love Sunday afternoon indoor concerts. I also enjoy the excitement of fireworks on The Domain or the Auckland Harbour. Well-lit streets make evening outings quite safe." - Joan Odendaal. Tell City Scene what you love about our city in about 150 words and send it to cityscene@aucklandcity.govt.nz with My Auckland in the subject line.
