Two elements of the council's CBD upgrade won design and architecture awards last month. Multifunctional street poles along Queen Street (top) and Beach Road received a gold award at the New Zealand BeST Design Awards, and the recently renovated Lorne Street (bottom) won the New Zealand Institute of Architects' Resene local award for architecture. Both of these projects were designed specifically for Auckland City Council's CBD streetscape and open space upgrade programme.
