Harbour Crossing - AucklandFrom City Scene, published on 11 November, 2007
Auckland City Council is a proud sponsor of the Sovereign Harbour Crossing - Auckland on Sunday, 25 November, the first event in this year's New Zealand Ocean Swim series. The 2.8km event is the longest of its type in New Zealand, starting at Stanley Bay beach and finishing at Auckland's Viaduct Harbour. To allow competitors to catch the first ferry, Parkright Downtown car park will be open from 5am on the day. The council encourages Aucklanders to get out and get active by supporting events such as the Auckland harbour crossing, the AkActive programme, and a network of council owned or supported swimming pools, recreation centres and community facilities. Enter as a family team to be in with a chance to win the Auckland city family cup prize, which includes two nights accommodation in a Millennium, Copthorne or Kingsgate hotel.
