Get the festive spirit  - head along to one of the council's free Christmas events

Get the festive spirit by heading along to one of the council's free Christmas events.

Onehunga Christmas Lights kicks off yuletide celebrations on Friday, 30 November with performances by local music groups, carol singing, face painting and the lighting of Jellicoe Park's Christmas tree.

You can also sing your heart out at traditional Carols by Candlelight events in December at Three Kings, Ponsonby, Waiheke Island, St Heliers and Balmoral.

Otahuhu celebrates Christmas on Saturday, 15 December with music and entertainment for the whole family, and Avondale Town Square will come alive on Sunday, 16 December with the unique and multicultural Carols by Spiderlight.

  • Onehunga Christmas Lights - Friday, 30 November (7pm to 9pm) at Jellicoe Park
  • Carols by Candlelight Three Kings - Sunday, 9 December (7pm to 9.15pm) at Mt Roskill's Three Kings Reserve
  • Carols by Candlelight Western Park - Friday, 14 December (7pm to 10pm) at Ponsonby's Western Park
  • Otahuhu Christmas celebrations - Saturday, 15 December (10am to 2pm) at Criterion Square
  • Carols by Candlelight Waiheke Island - Saturday, 15 December (7pm to 10pm) at Little Oneroa Beach Reserve (raindate - Sunday, 16 December)
  • Carols by Candlelight St Heliers - Sunday, 16 December (6.30pm to 8.30pm) at St Heliers School
  • Carols by Spiderlight - Sunday, 16 December (7pm to 9pm) at Avondale Town Square
  • Carols by Candlelight Potters Park - Sunday, 16 December (7.30pm to 9.30pm) at Balmoral's Potters Park.
