Life's sweet, drive sober: sweets are being handed out in the Viaduct Harbour, Queen Street, Ponsonby and Parnell.

Every Friday night until Christmas, sweets are being handed out in the Viaduct Harbour, Queen Street, Ponsonby and Parnell promoting the "drive sober" message. The promotion is aimed at addressing the usual increase in drink driving incidents reported around Auckland city during December. Auckland City Council has teamed up with the New Zealand Police and SkyCity Auckland to support the "Life's sweet, drive sober" campaign. The drive sober message will also be on posters displayed in local bars and car parking buildings around the city, encouraging groups enjoying the festive season to nominate a sober driver for the evening, or take public transport or a taxi.
