Free summer music playing in your local parkFrom City Scene, published on 16 December, 2007
Auckland City Council has proudly provided 15 years of free Music in Parks concerts, bringing Aucklanders together, fostering the local music industry and helping profile Auckland artists such as Goldenhorse and Nathan Haines early in their careers. The season has four series - Summer Sounds (popular music); The Culture Garden (niche genres); Drake Jazz at the Rotunda; and a new addition this year, Movies In Parks, a midweek dose of classic Kiwi films projected onto an inflatable screen, with pre-movie entertainment provided by local musicians. Music in Parks is just one of many free council-provided and supported events happening in our city during the summer. See what else is coming up and keep an eye out for the second Auckland events calendar delivered with your 20 January issue of City Scene.
