Awards for accessFrom City Scene, published on 16 December, 2007 Two Auckland city recreation centres have received silver awards from the Halberg Trust for their efforts to make the facilities accessible to disabled people. Lynfield Recreation Centre and Sir William Jordan Recreation Centre in Onehunga assessed their buildings for barriers to access. As a result, they will be carrying out some renovations, as well as new marketing initiatives to encourage disabled people to use their safe and accessible facilities. The centres are the first provided in partnership by Auckland City Council and the YMCA to receive Halberg Trust Sport Access awards.
