The Harding family and friend Nathan admire Sofia Tekela-Smith's Catherine 'Kata' Smith in the Likeness & Character exhibition at the Auckland Art Gallery's New Gallery (located on the corner of Wellesley and Lorne streets). Likeness & Character celebrates portraiture and New Zealand's relationship with figure painting. The free exhibition is open daily between 10am and 5pm and features many of New Zealand's best-loved artists, including Colin McCahon, Yvonne Todd, Edith Amituanai and Tony Fomison - whose work The Ponsonby Madonna is the exhibition's centrepiece.

Other exhibitions, showing in the main gallery (on the corner of Kitchener and Wellesley Streets) include Hei konei mai: We'll meet again, Love Chief and A Lighter Touch -19th and 20th Century European Art. The main gallery is open daily between 10am and 5pm until 29 February, when it closes for development.
