By-election nominations

Nominations are open for people interested in standing for the position of councillor in the Avondale/Roskill Ward following the death of sitting councillor Linda Leighton last November.

The council encourages citizens keen to contribute to their community to stand as a candidate in the by-election, which concludes on Wednesday, 9 April. Candidates need to be a New Zealand citizen, enrolled on the parliamentary electoral roll, and must complete a nomination paper. These are available on request by phoning 307 7211, visiting the website, or from the electoral office, Independent Election Services Ltd, ground floor, Bledisloe House, 24 Wellesley Street West, Auckland. Nominations close at noon on Tuesday, 19 February.
