Council reviews annual spendingFrom City Scene, published on 3 March, 2008 The council will review its annual spending at its Combined Committees meeting on 5 and 6 March. At the meeting, councillors will discuss budget-planning options for the next financial year. The decisions made at Combined Committees will go forward to the council's draft annual plan that will be released for public feedback on 21 April. The council's aim is to keep any rates increase to the level of council's rate of inflation, which is forecast as 4.8 per cent for next year. "Careful spending means that some projects in the 10-year plan will need to be changed deferred or cancelled," says the council's Combined Committees chairperson Councillor Doug Armstrong.
