Our past at MotatFrom City Scene, published on 16 March, 2008
Step out of suburbia and into the boots of a soldier at Motat's Military Weekend on Saturday, 29 and Sunday, 30 March. Take a ride on a Sioux helicopter, watch World War 2 battle re-enactments and be entertained by military bands. There's also a wealth of war memorabilia and restored aircraft and vehicles on display - including one of only a few World War 2 avro Lancaster Bombers in the world. While you're at Motat don't miss seeing the Ferguson tractor that Sir Edmund Hillary and his team used to travel to the South Pole during 1957 and 1958. For more information, visit www.motat.org.nz or phone 0800 668 286.
