Cliff Road works

From City Scene, published on 13 April, 2008

St Heliers' Cliff Road is being made safer for motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and residents to use. Work will begin soon to stabilise and strengthen the existing palisade wall, with additional sections being built to prevent slippage. The work will also include installing a new drainage shaft to reduce flooding. A section of Cliff Road will be closed to all non-residential traffic during this time, with road users being asked to use Springcombe Road as an alternative route. The Ladies and Gentlemans bays walkways and a section of St Heliers beach directly below Cliff Road will also be closed during this period to ensure safety for all users. The Achilles Point lookout will remain open for pedestrians only and can be accessed via Springcombe Road. Work is due to be completed by September, weather permitting.
