Fun and excitement in the CBD: Expect the unexpected in Auckland's central city during Living Room 2008

Expect the unexpected in Auckland's central city during Living Room 2008 - a programme of performances, installations and stories enlivening the CBD between now and 22 June.

Some of the offerings include:

  • Die Henkel Spur (The Henkel Way) - noon and 2.30pm performances, various locations, 10 to 13 and 16 to 19 April.
  • FGS Remembrance and Rest Clubhouse, The Friendly Girls' Society - 10am to 2pm, Khartoum Place, 21 to 24 April
  • My Heart is a Beast - lunchtimes and some evenings, Wednesdays to Saturdays, 7 to 24 May, Queen Street and Karangahape Road
  • Peep Show - Chow:Hill in association with Specialised Lighting Concepts, 6am to 2pm, 19 May to 2 June at the Pioneer Women's and Ellen Melville Hall, on the corner of High Street and Freyberg Place
  • Urban Life, Test-Tube Television - 5pm to 10pm, 9 to 22 June, Odeon Theatre, Lorne Street
  • Storybox - dusk to 11pm, 13 to 20 June at the entrance to Princes Wharf, Viaduct Harbour.

Visit the website or phone 379 2020 for more details. Living Room is part of the council's $157m project to improve and support the vitality of our central city. Elements of the 10-year project already in place include the building of the 12,000 seat Vector Arena, the development of the Central City Library, and streetscape upgrades to improve pedestrian access, create a safer environment and celebrate Auckland's heritage.
