Auckland City Council's sports fields won three of the four categories in the recently announced 2007 best sports field competition. Shore Road Reserve's number one field won the best sand-based rugby field category and Seddon Fields number four field took out the best sand-based soccer field category.

Orakei Domain's number one field won the best soil-based rugby field category and the coveted best overall sports field prize. The independently judged competition featured sports fields from all over the Auckland region, including entries from Manukau and North Shore city councils. Judging criteria included field presentation, usage and cost of maintenance.
