Happy birthday Vector Arena

From City Scene, published on 20 April, 2008

Auckland city's largest indoor venue has just celebrated its first birthday. Since the council-funded Vector Arena was opened last April, New Zealand has seen a marked increase in visiting international acts.

To date, a total of 445,000 people have enjoyed various acts, ranging from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Gwen Stefani, to appearances by the Dalai Lama.

Auckland City Council led the development of the $80 million, 12,000-seat arena, which will be owned and operated by QPAM Ltd for 40 years before being sold back to the council for one dollar.

Upcoming performances at Vector Arena include The Foo Fighters (5 and 6 May), High School Musical - The Ice Tour (29 May to 2 June) and Elton John (14 May).
