Award-winning consultationFrom City Scene, published on 27 April, 2008 Auckland City Council has won a best practice award for its community-based approach to planning Otahuhu's future. The New Zealand Planning Institute award recognised the council's best practice approach to consultation, with the council commended for holding a range of consultation events in prominent locations. These successfully engaged with a broad range of community groups and achieved maximum project exposure. Chairperson of the City Development Committee, Councillor Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga, says the council works hard to make the most of community consultation. "Given the diversity of the Otahuhu community, our staff should be congratulated for their efforts in engaging with the community."
