Volunteering at Auckland Zoo is a great way to share your passion for wildlife and conservation, and to work with an amazing team of people.

Volunteering takes you outdoors into stunning environments, doing everything from helping out at the giraffe encounter to making items for the animals or taking visitors on guided tours.

The zoo is currently seeking fit and enthusiastic volunteers aged 18 years or older who are able to regularly volunteer one day a week or during weekends. As the zoo evolves and grows, so does the need for volunteer help, with volunteers contributing more than 27,500 hours each year.

Auckland Zoo volunteers coordinator Kelly Huntley says whether you're a university student or part-time worker with some free time, the zoo would love to hear from you.

"The zoo is an incredibly special and welcoming place," she says. "Our volunteers get the opportunity to learn so much about the animals, make new friends, become an integral part of the zoo family and really make a difference."

If you are interested in volunteering, email zoovolunteer@aucklandcity.govt.nz or phone 353 2090.
