People watching and dancing

From City Scene, published on 11 May, 2008

Exciting installations and performances continue in Auckland's CBD throughout May and June as part of the council's Living Room 2008 project.

The Living Room is one of many projects in a 10-year action plan to enhance the urban environment and support the vitality and attractiveness of the CBD.

My Heart is a Beast, a dance performance featuring half-human, half-stag creatures that attempt to blend into urban life, travels around Lower Queen Street and Karangahape Road during lunchtimes and some evenings between 7 and 24 May.

Another Living Room offering, Peep Show, trades on people's curiosity about the lives of others despite city living often meaning immediate neighbours are relative strangers to each other. The installation is on view from 10 May to 2 June (6pm to 2am) at the Pioneer Women's and Ellen Melville Hall, on the corner of High Street and Freyberg Place.
