Creating cinema in Avondale

On set: The First Take Film Festival  features original films produced by young people from the Avondale/New Lynn area.

The First Take Film Festival (Hollywood Cinema, Friday, 23 May, from 6pm) features original films produced by young people from the Avondale/New Lynn area. Each team was given help from film industry mentors and a $1000 grant to create their film. The council-funded community project aims to encourage young people’s creativity and strengthen their connections with the community.

This year’s festival films are Shakespeare a modern musical by Epic Productions, Declined by Oasis Productions and The Randoms - a documentary by the Randoms.
