Lumsden GreenFrom City Scene, published on 18 May, 2008
A sculpture and a memorial in Newmarket’s Lumsden Green were removed this week as part of preparations for a major stormwater upgrade for the area. The improvements will reduce flooding in Newmarket and cater for its rapid growth. Marte Szirmay’s Smirnoff sculpture, a representation of Newmarket’s industrial past and the memorial plinth will be stored off site during the upgrade. However, the reserve’s cannon will stay where it is and is not affected by the work.
