Saturday morning farmers' markets in the central city, Parnell, and Blockhouse Bay are bursting with the wares of local growers, farmers and specialist food producers.

The food markets allow people to purchase fresh, quality local foods direct from local producers, including seasonal fruit and vegetables, eggs, meat, oils, condiments, coffee, and specialty breads. Because vendors only sell what they grow, farm, pickle, preserve, bake, smoke or catch themselves, the markets are becoming increasingly popular with consumers - as well as creating a great community atmosphere while people choose from the bounty on offer.
