Protest to peace: Tigilau Ness's message of peace and unity through song is captured in Bryn Evans's film biography of the Auckland roots musician, From Street to Sky (Saturday 26 July, 5.30pm). This is one of the highlights of this year's Auckland International Film Festival.

Catch some of the great films screening this week at the 40th Auckland International Film Festival.

The festival is an annual winter treat that gives audiences the chance to see the best in contemporary and classic cinema. Films are hand-picked from around New Zealand and the international film festival circuit.

With just a week to go before the festival ends on 27 July, there are still seats available for some outstanding films, including many New Zealand films that warranted the wider exposure the film festival provides.

"The sheer range of New Zealanders on screen makes it abundantly clear that our culture is becoming increasingly and excitingly inclusive," says festival director Bill Gosden.
