Dog owners save on feesFrom City Scene, published on 20 July, 2008 Dog owners can save money by registering their dogs on or before Friday, 1 August to take advantage of early payment rates. There is also a new discount for superannuitants who register their dogs by then. Two-thirds of the city's estimated 19,000 dogs have already been registered, well up on this time last year. So far, more than 20 per cent of registrations have been online. "Registration is an important part of being a responsible owner," says chairperson of the City Development Committee, Councillor Peseta Sam Lotu-liga. "When people register their dogs on time, animal control officers can focus more on education, dealing with problem dogs and patrolling parks and beaches rather than following up late payers." As well as saving money, owners who register their dogs by the end of the month will go into a draw to win Westfield shopping vouchers. Does your dog have its blue disc?
