Improving Cox's Bay Reserve for sports

Westmere closed for maintenance: Cox's Bay Reserve's sand and drainage systems are being renewed in time for the winter sports season.

To enhance Cox's Bay Reserve, Westmere (pictured), the number one playing field will be closed for maintenance until November.

"We are renewing the sand and drainage systems to restore the playing surfaces on the number one field to peak condition," says Councillor Greg Moyle, chairperson of the Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee.

"Once complete, we will have a much improved playing surface, especially for winter sports."

The council is working with sports clubs who use the field to find alternative plans.

The other three sports fields at the reserve will remain open, but part of the car park is closed until April.
