Win with Telecom Summer Sounds
From City Scene, published on 18 January, 2009.
Telecom Summer Sounds comes to Pt Chevalier's Coyle Park on
the last day of the month (31 January, 2pm to 6pm), with Katchafire, dDub and
The Caitlin Smith Group heating up the seaside stage.
Katchafire is one of New Zealand's best live acts and their
roots reggae sound is revered worldwide. The band has toured extensively
overseas, playing at festivals with international reggae acts such as Mr Gang,
Horace Andy, Moonraisers, Gentleman, The Wailers and Maxi Priest. They also
played with UB40 as part of 2008 Raggamuffin concert.
Combining authentic roots styles with a contemporary
approach, dDub has developed a sound that is uplifting and amazing in a live
setting. The group has become a favourite at many festivals, and recently
released their second album, Medicine Man.
Also preforming is Caitlin Smith who was described by a
reviewer as having a voice that "the imagination created". Smith has sung in a
multitude of settings, residences and festivals with her highly acclaimed trio
The Fondue Set and more recently with The Caitlin Smith Group.
