leaking of the sluice gates gets under way and will continue the next 4-6
weeks. |

Essential maintenance work is under way on the
Orakei Basin
gates to prevent leakage, to ensure the water level can be maintained for
recreational use.
The work, which is expected to be completed by mid to late
March, will mainly be limited to the area around the gates and will largely take
place during low tide. This will minimise disruption to the rest of the basin.
However, users should note that the basin's flushing times may be extended.
Access to the boat ramp alongside the gates will also be restricted.
