Young Aucklanders who are passionate about the city's
future can now apply to be nominated for the 2009
Auckland City Youth Council.
Administered by Auckland City Council, it gives young people aged between 12 and
24 the chance to present their views as well as the opportunity to learn more
about their community, their city and local government.
"The youth council has been giving young people a voice in
Auckland since 1984 and we appreciate their views on issues that may affect
them," says Councillor Paul Goldsmith, chairperson of the Community Services
Committee.
For the 2009 council, Auckland City Council will accept one
nomination per secondary school, tertiary institution, youth organisation or
community group.
Nominees should be confident speakers and team players, who
are able to commit to one year. Nominations close at 5pm on Thursday, 19
February.
Nomination forms are available online.
