After a competitive tender process, Community Leisure Management (CLM) is the preferred operator to manage five council-owned recreation facilities and swimming pools. The sixth and final contract tendered will remain with YMCA.

CLM was the highest scoring candidate and the council is confident it is going to deliver innovative programmes and enhanced customer service. It will work with the community to offer a wider range of activities, as well as introducing new gym equipment at some of the facilities.

CLM will operate Cameron Pool from 1 April, and Glen Innes Pool, Pt Erin Pool, Lynfield Recreation Centre and Otahuhu Recreation Centre from 1 July.

The council will be working with both the incoming and outgoing operators to ensure a smooth transition. This will include transferring existing memberships and swimming concession cards to ensure the public can continue to make full use of the facilities. If current customers have any questions about the change of operator, they can phone the council. This tender process was initiated after six of the 14 existing contracts expired this year. The new contracts will last for four years, with a possible extension of a further two years at the council's discretion.
