Auckland city residents wishing to apply for grants for cultural or natural heritage projects on their land or property have until 17 April to do so.

Auckland City Council Heritage Fund has two grants available - natural heritage or cultural heritage - and each has a total of $50,000 for projects.

  • The natural heritage grant is for ecological conservation projects on private land in the Hauraki Gulf islands. Projects could include pest control, weed control, native revegetation or fencing. A direct environmental gain should result.
  • The cultural heritage grant is for the restoration or maintenance of heritage buildings throughout Auckland city. Projects could include repair and maintenance work, restoration work, and conservation plans.

Applications must be received by the council by 5pm on Friday, 17 April 2009. They will then be considered during the City Development Committee meeting on 14 May 2009.
