From City Scene, published on 15 March, 2009.
Community halls that are owned and operated by Auckland
City Council are currently enjoying a lick of paint and a spring clean. The
council has 29 halls in its portfolio, which are located throughout the city
centre, outlying suburbs and the Hauraki Gulf islands.
Halls can be rented for all sorts of occasions, including
community activities, social functions, theatre space or wedding receptions. All
venues come furnished with tables and chairs, with most of the larger halls
having kitchens or, at the minimum, tea and coffee making facilities.
Hall hire rates are also very competitive and a 25 or 50
per cent discount is available to local groups who operate for the benefit of
the community.
